Seeking: a quick weekend dispatch
Block parties, blueberry picking, and live music
Hello! It’s been a bit, but sometimes the best way to get back into a project that has fallen by the wayside is by churning out something quick and dirty to get back into the rhythm.
In a future letter I’ll share with you what I’ve been up to lately and plans for the future of this newsletter, but as I sat down to think about what I wanted to do this weekend, I thought I should share my personal seeking practice with you so we can all benefit. There’s a ton going on!
If you’ve already got plans or are out of town this weekend, I’ve included a few things on my radar so there’s still value for you, too.
Let’s get into it!
👀 On my radar
It’s officially blueberry season. You can browse all our local farms here, but I’m planning a trip to the nearby Mercer Slough farm ($2.50/lb!). I also love the concept of Charlotte’s Blueberry Park in Tacoma, which is a city park tended to by volunteers, where you can pick blueberries for FREE.
New brewery + cafe Human People Beer in Roosevelt has the cutest branding. I’m dying to go! Zoe did a great review video on her experience there. They are also hosting a coffee and crafting club there tomorrow.
I’ve been to the new Pioneer Square music venue Baba Yaga twice in the past two weeks, and it’s gotten me excited about a few other new venues that have popped up this year in Fremont: Hidden Hall, Mermaid Lounge, and Add-A-Ball, which I’ve heard has a new music venue. Also trying to check out the new waterfront venue Pier 62 before the summer is over! (The disco fest is calling my name).
Really excited for Open Form to open, it’s a “gathering space inspired by the art of Persian hospitality” that seems to be a reservable experience for private groups and includes Persian tea, coffee, and natural wine. The concept reminds me of Shiloh’s Tea House in LA. Can’t wait to bring a group of friends here!

We saw a show (Blind Pilot and John Craige) at Pier 62 earlier in the summer and it was a ton of fun! Got there maybe 15 minutes before the opener (John Craige) started playing and snagged a great spot at the front of the back section next to the sound booth (pro-tip: the best sound will be where it’s being mixed from, so if you can snag the spot just in front of or next to the sound board in any venue, do it!). It wasn’t packed, so we didn’t feel crowded into the barrier. It was a perfect night for the show, gorgeous sunset. We did forget to take “being on the water” into consideration when we dressed, so could have used a light layer, but otherwise no complaints.
