Happy Thursday, friends! Today is my Friday as I’m headed to Leavenworth this afternoon to walk around in the leaves and hike Lake Valhalla tomorrow to try and catch the last gasps of the larches.
I hope you find something below to inspire your weekend. And if you see something you’d like to do with a friend, it would mean the world to me if you shared this newsletter with them! I’d love for more people to have this weekly note as a resource, especially as we enter SAAD season and the call of the couch strengthens.
Let me know if you try anything from this round-up or on your own that’s worth reporting back on!
*The structure of this newsletter will evolve over time as I learn what interests you + me most. If you have any feedback or content you’d like to see featured - please drop me a note in the comments or at seekingseattle@substack.com
💎 Local gems
Central Cinema | Central District
I’m not a huge movie-goer, but I love watching old movies at Central Cinema. Now is an especially fun time to go, since they’re playing Beetlejuice and Hausu (a Japanese cult comedy horror) this week and Hocus Pocus (!!) next week. They have cute little booths you can sit in and you can order food + drinks to enjoy throughout the movie. Highly recommend as a date night or friend group outing!
Aqua Zumba | Rainier Beach
I love when I stumble into a pocket of Seattle that I’ve never experienced before, but is clearly a THING. This is not an activity I ever thought I’d find myself doing, but it was actually a freaking blast. The instructor was clearly beloved, the crowd was welcoming and inclusive, and the playlist was 🔥 It happens every Monday from 7-8 pm at the Rainier Beach Pool and costs just $7.
Wunderground + Coastal Kitchen | Capitol Hill
This is the perfect coworking + happy hour duo (especially if it’s a Tuesday)! Wunderground is not an average coffee shop – they have mushroom-infused coffee blends that feel like they give you +5 IQ points and the food is much more nourishing than a sad pastry. Plus, my cousin Bryce works there and he’s really nice! If you see a tall man behind the cash register, say hello to him.
After you pack up your laptop, head over to Coastal Kitchen for their happy hour (3-6 pm). If it’s Tuesday, then you can get oysters and rosé pours for $2.50 each (or a bottle for $12.50) from 4-9 pm. It’s a crazy deal, and the small plates are pretty good too! We got there around 4 so it wasn’t busy, but if you plan on coming later than 5:30-6, I’d recommend making a reservation.
👀 On my radar
Where the Rope Ends - My friend Baylee has been working on this documentary for 6 years and it’s now finally screening! It tells the story of a trauma nurse who is airlifted to her own hospital after falling 60 feet in a canyon and the life-changing perspective she uncovers after the accident. The previous two screening dates sold out, so I’m planning on going to the one on 11/20 at SIFF Uptown. Snag your tickets here before this one sells out too!
Seattle Restaurant Week, 10/22 - 11/4 - TBH, I think restaurant week is usually overrated and overpriced. But The Infatuation put together a pretty good guide of the deals that are actually worth it. Here are the ones I’d recommend:
Korochka Tavern: This one has been on my list for a while now and thanks to SRW, I’m finally going to check it out. They’re offering a dinner for two that includes cocktails for $50 (one of the best deals I’ve seen!).
Baegopa: My favorite Korean BBQ spot is doing a platter for 2 for $65 that also includes soup + salad (get the grapefruit soju to go along with it).
Delish Ethiopian Cuisine: I tried Ethiopian food for the first time at Delish this year and it was SO good. With their deal, you get both of their combo plates for $35 which would be enough food for at least 4 people.
Spice Waala: If you’re looking for an SRW takeout option, I’d highly recommend Spice Waala. They’re serving 6 of their best menu items for $35 (including 2 cups of their famous soft serve!).

Oooo I’ve never been to wunderground. Also going to get tickets to hocus pocus. Central cinema is a couple blocks from me!
I love Korochka! I was so sad when they left my neighborhood and haven't yet made it in to their new location. Great folks, delicious drinks, plus you can get a perfect baked potato (a thing sorely missing from my life since the Baked food truck closed).
This week I'll be closing my show (stage managing Last Drive To Dodge at Taproot Theatre in Greenwood), then doing nothing for as long as possible before doing many things, lol.
