Hey y’all! It’s a beautiful day in Seattle today, which means we’ve got ENERGY to go do stuff, so I’m going to try a little bit of a quick-fire format today.
I’ve been hoarding all kinds of Seattle-related things in a folder I call Hot Tips, so I’m opening it up for you to give you a few things to get excited about.
Also, the giveaway with UrbanBuzz ends tonight at midnight, so sign up for their email list if you haven’t yet! As a reminder, the winner gets dinner for two at Donna’s ($65 value) and dessert to-go from R+M Dessert Bar ($20 value)—all paid for by Urbanbuzz. This isn’t a paid partnership, just excited about what they’re creating and wanting to pass on a fun evening to my readers!
💎 Local gems

The Shape of the Night | Georgetown
This is one of the coolest events I’ve been to in Seattle in a very long time. If you’re familiar with or a fan of the famous Sleep No More, an immersive theatrical experience in NYC, you will love this. It takes place in the Georgetown Steam Plant, which is a perfectly spooky venue, and the experience itself is mysterious, a little creepy, and very otherworldly (I’m still having weird dreams).
You can have a drink while you walk around, but I needed both my hands to solve puzzles, hold my treasures, and be invited to private experiences by the performers. Highly recommend wearing comfy clothes and practical shoes, you’ll be roaming all over the venue for a little over two hours.
My sister got $5 tickets to this through DoMORE, but I would have gladly paid the $90+ ticket cost. It’s running now through May 11th, so I highly recommend grabbing tickets while you can!
👀 On my radar
Eggslut is coming to Seattle (Melrose Market to be exact). My bf says their breakfast sandwiches are too goopy, but they look yummy to me.
This will be the summer I finally go to Deck’d Out at Monkey Loft!!! It’s every Thursday from 7 - 11 pm and starts on June 19th. Perfect post-Pickle Bánh plan.
THING is doing an August concert series every Saturday this year at Remlinger. Looks like a nice way to spend a summer day! Especially for families (kids 12 and under are free).
A new chocolate shop + cafe + live music venue called Cocoa Legato is now open in Greenwood. Love the concept, we need more mixed-use spaces like this!
Pike Place is popping off this year: most of it has been closed off to cars until August (FINALLY), Reuben’s Brews is opening a taproom, and Virginia Inn is staying open.
North Seattleites, you are in for such a treat! You’re getting your very own Grillbird this June (plus their new salad concept). The West Seattle location is my #1 takeout spot (and on the convenient cheap eats list).
The Crocodile is hosting a summer music series at Pier 62 called Oodalalee starting on 6/1 with Hermanos Gutiérrez (I’d 100% be there if I wasn’t traveling).
So many new cafes are popping up:
Always Summer Cafe in Lake Forest Park (very photogenic).
Exhibit Coffee is now open in Friend Museum in Pioneer Square (I’ve been, very cute).
Parlour in Pioneer Square is a day-to-night operation that serves coffee in the morning and wine + bites at night.
Cafe Calaveras is opening soon in a TBD location (been a fan since the pop-up days).
Sundays in Fremont is opening under Dreamland right by the Sunday market. I imagine they’ll be open more than just Sundays? 🙃
Jin Jin Matcha is opening a second location in downtown Seattle—just in time for iced matcha latte season.
Want to open a cafe in your own neighborhood? You might be able to if legislation passes in Seattle to allow neighborhood cafes and stores in all residential areas.
There are many more things in the vault to share! Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks.

Very excited to try Cocao Legato next time I'm working in Greenwood!
I got tickets the moment they went on sale to see my favorite band from my silly hometown, Blind Pilot, at Pier 62! It's been a long time since I've seen them twice in one year (saw them at the Neptune in February) and I'm super excited about an outdoor show.
Ohhh I want to go to deckd out!
