Hey y’all — excited to share our second Seattle Snapshot with you this week featuring Zoe Kahn! As I mentioned last week, Zoe came on my radar through her work at The Nudge. Many of my favorite features are things that she pioneered and the plans she created on the app were the kind of recs that I love to share with you here. So I was stoked when she agreed to be part of this.
But before I turn things over to Zoe, I wanted to note an interesting trend I’ve noticed in the live music scene this summer: EDM groups hosting concerts in rarely utilized outdoor venues. Examples of what I’m talking about:
Gorgon City in Pioneer Square | Friday, July 26th
The Chainsmokers at Myrtle Edwards Park | Saturday, August 10th
Anjunadeep at Gasworks Park | Saturday, August 24th
Louis The Child at the Muckleshoot Plaza (Lumen Field) | Saturday, September 7th
Diplo’s Run Club at Gasworks Park | Saturday, September 14th
I like the creativity and hope that other artists can expand on this. EDM lends itself a little better to outdoor venues (usually less to set up) and I think many EDM fans would rather be outside during the summer than in a dark, sweaty club. Will keep an eye on this, I want to go to the Gorgon City show just so I can see how they’re going to transform Pioneer Square. Lmk what you think of this trend in the comments!
Okay, onward!
*This post is a little long, so don’t forget to expand if it gets cut off in your email!
👋 Meet Zoe Kahn
Hey there! I'm Zoe, a New Yorker that's been living in Seattle for 11 years. It turns out the West Coast is really the best coast but don't tell my Dad I said that.
For the last 5 years, I was working at The Nudge (a startup that texts people fun things to do). I created all the content for Seattle, and then I was promoted to manage the West Coast. Now I’m freelancing, and it’s a whole new world🧜♀️ — I’m helping local brands with their marketing, building a community on my TikTok sharing Seattle gems (@zoeinseattle), and planning art shows for my film photography.
💎 Zoe’s local gems
You can usually find me at Retreat in Green Lake, working remotely, or at 45th Stop and Shop in Wallingford to pick up my favorite poke bowl. But I wouldn’t consider those “local gems” per se — they’re pretty well known — so here are a few real gemstones:
Grayhorse Mercantile | Whidbey Island
If you like aesthetic kitchenware, well-branded chocolate, puzzles and trinkets, I gotchu. Grayhorse Mercantile is the dreamiest little shop in Langley, WA. Some of my favorite things from here include but are not limited to: glasses with tulips on them, a puzzle of a sailboat on the coast, and chocolate from Hawaii.
Salumi | Pioneer Square
I recently tried Salumi, which is a little sandwich shop in Pioneer Square. People rave about the Cubano but I went with the Eggplant Parm and it was insanely good. Here’s a review of it. Fun fact: Anthony Bourdain went here in a “No Reservations” episode.
👀 On Zoe’s radar
Biringer Farm | Arlington
Usually by mid-June the strawberry U-pick farms are popping off. Biringer Farm is one of my faves and they’re open this weekend! There’s a great Nudge Plan about this spot.
THING Festival | Carnation
In August, there’s this music festival happening that I’m really curious about called THING Festival (hilarious name). It’s on a farm outside Seattle and they have some big names going, like St. Vincent and Shakey Graves, etc.
Casa di LaValle | Pioneer Square
I was recently strolling through Pioneer Square and I walked by this gorgeous boutique with home stuff and decor. I didn’t get to browse because I was in desperate need of a coffee (I just shoved my face against the window), but I’m planning on going asap! Seems like they have beautiful, cozy things.
📍 Where to find Zoe
I’m doing a film photography show in July! My film photos will be on display at a cute vintage store in Belltown, called Halite (located at the Northwest Work Lofts). The opening night will be Friday, July 12 at 7 pm as part of the Belltown Art Walk. There will be wine (+NA options), art, and clothes for sale. Follow my IG for updates and RSVP here!
Lastly! I’m currently taking on new clients for content creation & consultation and marketing strategy work. If you or someone you know is looking for creative assets, campaign support, or a marketing strategy, please send me an email: hellozoeinseattle@gmail.com
Thank you for sharing your Seattle Snapshot, Zoe! I’ll be back in your inboxes next week 🤗

🚨 ICYMI
If you plan on swimming this weekend, check out the lake bacteria levels beforehand — quite a few popular beaches are too high! Another pink building on Capitol Hill is going to be a new boba shop (not another Voodoo). Unfortunately, the Seattle Public Library system is still down two weeks after the cyber attack BUT e-book access is returning today (thank god 🙏). KUOW published an article on how to find less popular trails + a few recs.

I follow Zoe on TikTok, she is the reason I am currently obsessed with getting to Salumi for that eggplant parm sandwich.
