Right?? I’m intrigued, I love the intimate vibe of it and how they’re always switching up the menu

Yay keep rooting for high speed rail! My husband is working on that project.

Modern Japanese Cuisine in Greenwood/Phinney makes excellent grab and go onigiri (much better than Uwajimaya’s). That’s the main thing I wish we had from Japan!

Ah that’s so cool! I will always be rooting for this project (and anything light rail related). And thank you so much for that rec, I recently tried the onigiri at Uwajimaya and it made me so sad lol. I’m also curious about Onibaba in the ID which specializes in onigiri!

Onibaba is incredible! The onigiri at modern Japanese cuisine are more like konbini ones, wrapped in plastic etc, but the Onibaba ones come out steamy and fresh and have so many more flavors. I've only been there once for a quick dinner before a pottery class, but it is high on my list to return to!

They both sound excellent, for different reasons! Will definitely share here after I check them out :)

Were we both just in Japan at the same time??? The vending machines are amazing. I'm officially a "Pocari Sweat" addict now.

We must have been! We were in Tokyo and Kyoto from 2/10-2/19, is that when you were there?

Pocari Sweat is sooo good (and can be found at Uwajimaya!). Did you find any bagels over there? We were curious if there was any kind of bagel scene

Oh no don't tell me that...we're making a Uwajimaya trip this weekend now that all I eat is Inari lol. We were there 2/15-2/28 so yeah, total overlap. And yes, I ate some bagels... review and discussion forthcoming...

I was very disappointed by the onigiri at Uwajimaya, so I hope the inari is better! One thing that was surprisingly great = cucumber lays. Looking forward to the upcoming Japanese bagel review!
